Human factors is the study of human capabilities and limitations and how individuals interact with products and environments. It is a multi-disciplinary field that incorporates elements of anatomy, physiology, physics, and cognitive psychology. Consultants at Guidance Engineering apply their knowledge in human perception and performance to analyze accidents and injuries. For example, we evaluate perception and reaction times to determine whether an individual had ample time to avoid an obstacle. We have analyzed human factors issues relating to consumer products (liability issues in product design and usage); recreational activities (skiing, snowboarding, tubing, sledding, diving, biking accidents, among others); and, industrial accidents (involving work place design and process design).
